The three families

The appointment
  • A consultation determines the appropriate filler and the areas to treat.
  • The procedure takes 15–60 minutes depending on how many areas are treated.
  • Topical anaesthetic may be applied to minimise discomfort.

Results are typically visible immediately, except with poly-L-lactic acid, which works gradually. The procedure is minimally invasive with little downtime.

How long it lasts
  • Hyaluronic acid — 6 to 18 months.
  • Calcium hydroxylapatite — up to 2 years.
  • Poly-L-lactic acid — up to 2 years.
Where filler is placed
  • Cheeks — adds volume and lifts sagging skin, restoring youthful contour.
  • Nasolabial folds — fills the lines from nose to mouth corners.
  • Marionette lines — smooths the shadows running down from the mouth.
  • Lips — enhances volume, shape and definition; corrects asymmetry.
  • Under-eyes — reduces hollowing and dark circles; requires expert technique.
  • Jawline — sharpens contour and adds definition.
  • Chin — improves projection, symmetry and profile balance.
  • Temples — fills hollows caused by fat and bone loss with age.
  • Forehead — smooths contour and creates harmony with the rest of the face.
Is it reversible?

Yes — if you are unhappy or a complication occurs, a healthcare professional can usually dissolve hyaluronic acid fillers quickly with hyaluronidase. This applies to HA fillers, not every type.

Aftercare
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, sun and heat for 24 hours.
  • Do not use AHA, retinol or vitamin C therapy for 24 hours.
  • Sleep on your back for the first few nights.
  • Drink plenty of water to keep the skin hydrated.
  • Minor swelling or bruising is normal and subsides within days.
  • Contact us with any concern about infection or reaction.
Risks

Common. Temporary redness, swelling, bruising or itching.

Rare. Infection, lumps, filler migration or allergic reaction.

Filler is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Those with certain health conditions or allergies should consult a healthcare provider first.
